Though he began his career as a trial attorney, it did not take long for Brian to find his true calling as a “corporate” attorney. Brian represents clients in a wide variety of transactions, such as the purchase and sale of businesses and real estate. He routinely counsels clients in all aspects of the merger and acquisition processes, having handled deals totaling over $1 billion.

Brian also counsels clients on the management of commercial assets, including intellectual property. He is routinely called upon to draft, revise, review, and negotiate complex contracts for international businesses and advise on corporate governance matters.

During law school, Brian interned for Judge Harry Pregerson of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and served as both a staff writer and a notes and comments editor of the Southwestern University Law Review. After graduating from law school, Brian practiced at a large, international law firm in Long Beach, California. Upon returning to his hometown of Dallas, Brian practiced with another large, international law firm before he co-founded Calhoun, Bhella & Sechrest.

Brian has been recognized as a Texas Rising Star three times (2011-2013) and as a Super Lawyer the past six years in a row (2014-2019) by Super Lawyers®, a Thomson Reuters service. He was also been featured as one of D Magazine’s Best Lawyers Under 40 in 2006.
