Soledad Torretta has extensive cross-border experience in transactional, general corporate work and international financings, including commercial financing in emerging markets, and especially in Latin America. Ms. Torretta has advised clients in private equity transactions, international merger and acquisitions, joint-ventures and foreign direct investments. Her experience in both law firms and as in-house counsel for several years provides her with a unique insight into legal matters.

Before joining Calhoun, Bellha & Sechrest LLP, she founded Ojea Torretta, a boutique Latin American Law Firm in New York City. Previously, Ms. Torretta worked in New York for the Latin American practice groups of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter and Hampton. Ms. Torretta also worked as in-house counsel for Ondeo Services America Latina in Argentina. Ms. Torretta was in charge of overseeing the financings of Ondeo’s operations throughout Latin America.

Ms. Torretta received her law degree from the Universidad Católica Argentina. She also graduated from a financial graduate program for lawyers from Universidad del CEMA in Argentina. Ms. Torretta thereafter obtained an LL.M. degree from Columbia University School of Law in New York where she was named Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.

Ms. Torretta is admitted to practice law in Argentina and in New York.

She has also served as Pro Bono mediator in multiple Equal Employment Opportunity Commission mediations in New York City. Ms. Torretta completed a program on the Essential Mediation Skills for the New Mediator in the American Arbitration Association in February 2013.

Ms. Torretta is fluent in Spanish and English, and is competent in French and in Portuguese.
